Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions has signed a long-term lease for a new warehouse at Hesperia’s 56-hectare Roe Highway Logistics Park.

The move will consolidate the international mining equipment manufacturer’s Perth-based operations, with a new 10,500sqm warehouse to be located alongside a purpose-built workshop.

Hesperia director Judd Dyer said the new warehouse would incorporate a high level of automation as well as sustainability measures.

The push for sustainability follows a $95 million investment in the logistics park by the Clean Energy Finance Corporation, with funding to go toward use of low-carbon building materials and solar power generation.

Sandvik APAC logistics and operations manager Niels Reuvers said relocating the organisations warehousing and workshop operations to the logistics park would result in additional operational efficiencies.

“We are aiming to streamline our operations through just-in-time delivery, faster in-bound processing and a higher level of dispatch accuracy due to warehouse automation,” he said.

The additional capacity will support the growing demand for around-the-clock service, qualified engineers and genuine parts on demand.

In addition, we are introducing new battery technology for the site and our materials handling system to make better use of the solar power we will be generating.
